Yellowstone is BIG.  We spent 11 hours in the park today and covered 250 miles (partly because one of the roads was closed).

Started off at Artists Paint Pots (many different colours and types of pools) and then Biscuit Basin with some very blue pools.  Between the two, we were privileged to see a mother and year old Grizzly by the side of the road.  Very exciting and some great pictures.

We stopped next at West Thumb Basin (along with the noisy half of Shanghai) and looked at the still frozen lakes.

On the drive north to Canyon Village, we saw a Black Bear mother and her three cubs walking around the lake.  They then crossed the road about 20 yards from us.  One more set of mud pools and geysers at Mud Pools and then finally the overlook at Lower Yellowstone Falls.  Spectacular.  On the way back a Bison ran past the car on the road.

A 120 mile return journey takes a while at a maximum speed of 45!
