Drove north from the plantation to St Francisville which had some nice houses but not quite as portrayed in Lonely Planet. Interesting history about its reliance on the Mississippi in the 1800s.


South to Baton Rouge with a brief stop at the Capitol building and park before driving the long straight elevated-over-swamp highway to Lafayette.


Found a local restaurant “Cajun Table” and had crawfish, alligator bites, catfish and crab cakes. Very messy but good. Pain Perdu for dessert.


Our car park for the night is at an Acadian museum.
