Left in drizzle and crossed the Mississippi on a high bridge before stopping for some supplies.
Drove down to Barataria Preserve to do a short boardwalk walk through the swamps. No gators.
About a mile later we arrived at Oak Alley Plantation which was a sugar cane plantation with a lovely large house and avenue of 200+ year old live oaks. Had a tour of the house but more interesting was talking to a guide about how the plantation was run and made use of the gentle slope of the ground away from the river Mississippi.
Followed the winding river past many chemical factories and crossed the river again for our car park night near another restored plantation house.
