Had a good breakfast in Faugh and then set off for Scotland via a quick stop at Tesco in Carlisle (they may not have food north of the border). Paused to take a quick photo in a drizzly Gretna Green where under 18 year olds used to come to get married when England had very different marriage laws to Scotland.

Next stop was New Lanark which was one of the UK’s biggest mills and a social experiment in providing quality care, housing and education for employees. Lots to see and a nice walk up by the river Clyde to see waterfalls, which were unfortunately small because of the dry summer.

Then a brief stop at Bothwell Castle which was a bit disappointing. Drove through Glasgow and the Clyde valley before a final stop in Balloch on the southern tip of Loch Lomond.

Our B&B for the night is about 10 miles form the Loch and we received a warm welcome from the hosts at Easter Garth. Sarnies and biscuits for dinner as the take away is closed on Mondays!
