Called in at a Walmart in Pasadena on the way out of LA and then bought some great donuts at Donut Man which makes fresh donuts.  Then headed for Calico, topping on Route 66 on the way to look at Bottle Ranch - a strange place where loads of bottles have been used to make trees.  Got to Calico Ghost Town where it was very windy.  This was one of the biggest producers of Silver in the 1880s-1890s in California.  They have preserved and recreated parts including 1000ft of mine, a small railroad and saloons, etc.  Then headed to our cheap motel in Barstow.
