Another sunny dawn and we left our campsite to complete the Ring of Kerry peninsula. We first stopped in Valentia island and cycled two miles each way to see 350 million year old tetrapod footprints in the slate. The slate here is used for billiard tables and for the roofs of the Houses of Parliament and Westminster abbey. Then onto look at some Iron Age forts at cahersiveen and lunch at a nearby beach. More driving on the north coast to Kels Bay to see a slightly odd tropical garden full of ferns and a rope bridge. After a brief stop in an Aldi we drove to the base of Mount Carrauntoohill for our car park campsite for the night. A short walk up the mountain track past sheep with glorious mountain views.
