Getting up cold with breath condensing takes some getting used to and it was one of those morns.

Decided to back track and visit the Völklinger Hütte, a UNESCO Heritage site iron works in operation from 1882 to 1986. It was VAST and in two and a half hours we did 8000 steps (4 miles) and a lot of stair climbing. An interesting exhibition about mining and German film too. We now know how iron ore is transformed into iron - sure it was taught at O’level but made no sense then.

At about 1 after a bit of scrambled oeuf we set off for Baden Baden. Once there we cycled a mile and a half to the Caracalla Therma spa for a couple of blissful hours being pumelled by water jets.

Shoehorned into the last space at the Motorhome park - €12 for the night with no electric.
