Woke up to an overcast and chilly day. The Black Forest forecast isn't looking that great either but we're heading that way regardless via the industrial town of Saarbrücken.
Drove through the forests of the Ardennes and in and out of France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany all in the space of 3 hours. Would have taken a while if they still had border crossings! Realised we had somehow traversed France without consuming a single croissant.
Parked up in a free car park next to the Franco-German gardens.
Saarbrücken was heavily bombed in both wars (and handed to France twice), thus not the most picturesque of towns but we did pass some interesting buildings, cycled alongside the river and had an ice cream in the very well thought out Franco-German gardens (complete with mini railway and chairlift).
Got back before the rain started.
