Had a reasonable night's sleep with the fan on. We decided the best way to beat the 36° heat was to ride trams and boats all day and experience Budapest that way.
In the end walking around the streets wasn't as bad as expected as the buildings provided a lot of shade.
A very interesting city We loved the trams snd rode trams 1, 2, 47, 49 did bus 74 and did the boat trip twice all for £10 each. Felt there was so much more to see, we only scratched the surface.
In the evening we went to a "ruin bar" as recommended by our Hungarian kayak guide back in Slovenia. A building in the Jewish ghettos which was bombed and they created a bar in the ruins. Had a few beers listening to some singers and had a chat to a lad born in France , grew up in Hungary and now lives in San Francisco.
Decided we should experience more of this kind of thing whilst travelling.
Ended up back in the McDonald's charging the phone.
A very enjoyable day despite the heat.
