Took our time getting up, surprisingly free of aches and pains considering we did a 11.5k hike with 2000 metres in ascent/descent yesterday.

Departed Cortina and set off down the Valle Di Cadore past the Hotel Colli (Stuart wondered if they accepted dogs)

and down into the tree line through many small towns.

A beautifully scenic route but if we'd taken a closer look at the route we'd have noticed it was a single track road all the way with three mountain passes (Passo Mauria, Sella Nevea and Predil pass), and dozens and dozens of switchbacks.

In the end it took us 4 1/2 hours to cross the border into Slovenia down to Bovec. It was probably a good job we were in air conditioning as it was 32° when we got to the Soca river for a quick paddle before getting the last place in the campsite.

Too hot to do much as no breeze. After dinner plan to go down to sit by the Soca river in the hope it will be a bit cooler. I predict not much sleep tonight.
