An early start. Took the raised train to Lincoln park. Walked about a mile to the wonderful free Zoo. Some great exhibits, especially the gorilla enclosure. At about 1pm the temperature was rising so took the bus back to the hotel to rest and do some planning.  The heatwave is persisting so we may need to find hotels for a few more days. In the evening caught the bus to Navy Pier for a stroll and a Chicago hot dog and inadvertently the most expensive scoop of ice cream we've ever had ($12).
