A 2.5 hour drive north via another border patrol checkpoint to the town of Alpine. Passed lots of dry land, large ranches and buttes/messas.

Stopped at a McDonald’s to do some marking and admin. Then on to out nearby ranch for a night. The hosts showed us around their camels, kangaroos, deer, alpacas, etc. very interesting but not sure I’d like a pet camel.
