Descended from the Chisos Basin campground and drove the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive, stopping at an old ranch and some viewpoints. Took the 1.5 mile loop to Burro Mesa to look at a canyon wall.

At the end of the today was the beautiful walk to Santa Elena Canyon where the Rio Grande has cut a 490m channel through the rock. The river was so low that we were able to walk across to the Mexican side.

Back at the Cottonwood campsite we chatted to some other campers and enjoyed a night with no Internet access.
