A good nights sleep in the tent despite it getting down to 4 degrees.

Drove the short distance to Capitol Reef Park and after doing the Scenic Drive, we hiked the 1 mile each way down Capitol Gorge Trail.  It's a desert wash between high canyon walls that was used by pioneers to get through the mountains and they also laid a telegraph line up the wash as a communications method.  I also scrambled up to three rock pools which only come to life with shrimps, etc. when it rains.

Then drove to Great Wash and had a look at some more large cliffs.  It would be great to see the place when there are flash floods.  At the bottom of the park is a 3,000 tree orchard that was set up by a family of Mormons in the mid 1800s by irrigating the land from the small river nearby.  They stil make fruit pies from the orchard and the old farmstead is open to see what their life was like - seems idyllic.

Had a sunbathe at the campsite and then went into Torrey for a burger at Slackers Burger Cafe - very nice.

Drove/walked to Sunset Point to see the sunset over the Park and then went back to the campsite for a campfire and beer.
