Had a good hotel breakfast of American sausages, waffles and loads of coffee - we're gonna get fatter.  Stopped off in a Walmart but they didn't have a lot of the stuff we needed for camping so will have to click-and-collect later.  Then drove through loads of Almond and Walnut groves to La Grange for their annual rodeo.  Fascinating event with all the rodeo events such as Bull riding, steer wrestling bucking Broncos, barell racing and a goat scramble where 100 kids under 8 all run around trying to catch 6 very scared looking goats.  They seem to be allowed to keep them if they catch them.  Very patriotic event with prayers and the national anthem sung at the start - nice to be in a country that seems proud of itself and can speak openly about Christianity.  Had some cold beer, beans, nachos and beef and also tried alligator jerky (no, it doesn't taste of chicken).  Got back to the hotel in time for a swim in a very cold pool and I think we're now almost adjusted to US time.
