Set off at 9am to avoid crowds of cars on the Highway. The weather was good driving up the North side and we got some good shops of the section highlighted on the Top Gear trip. Near the top, the clouds closed in and the way down most of the South side was in smurry weather with little visibility of the drop-offs. Even the tunnels were misty. Did see one deer but no bears.

Got down to the town of Curtea de Arges and visited the monastery complex -very impressive interiors to the orthodox buildings.

Then drove about 45 minutes east along rough roads to a night spot near a river and the ever present rubbish, Were visited by a very hungry stray dog and luckily we had purchased some dog treats earlier in the day, so fed her those.
