Today was an exciting day.
Woken at 4am by another storm - very close as lightning was striking every 2 seconds. A bit unnerving but fascinating to watch.
At 7.30 drove 40 mins to the Slovensky Raj National Park for a hike up the Sucha Bela gorge.
Set off at 8.30 and very soon realised there was not much resembling a normal path. You are walking in the stream, finding stepping stones and fallen logs, clambering over rocks, balancing on wooden ladders, metal rungs and climbing huge metal ladders next to waterfalls and plunge pools. It was really good fun.
To add to the excitement, ten minutes into our hike there was another storm with lightning striking very close on one occasion.
The hike took us 6 hours in total including the sunny 5k walk back through the forest. Our boots were wet and we felt like we used every muscle in our bodies today.
After a rest in the motorhome we drove an hour to our next stop, the Pieniny National Park and a spot right by the river Dunajec.
