Packed up and left the site near Locarno. Drove the 3.5 hours over two passes to the Swiss National Park. San Bernadino Pass was a mix of single lane and dual carriageway, so not too bad. Then the Julien Pass with many hairpin bends which topped out just shy of 2300 metres. Good weather again allowed us to see more mountains and lakes on route. Passed through St. Mortiz which wasn’t as pretty as we’d thought it would be – pretty ugly buildings and not as spectacular mountain backdrops as other resorts we’ve seen. Then half an hour later to our campsite near Chapelle on the edge of the Swiss National Park. We found a pitch down by the river (no electric or WiFi) and after buying some wood, we had a proper campfire and BBQ’d the burgers and bacon for dinner. A beautiful spot.
