Left sunny Asheville and drive into the Smoky Mountains. The main road (I40) was closed due to hurricane damage, as was part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, so we took windy backroads through the national park.

Saw a herd of Elk and some nice views as we crossed at nearly 5,000 feet with temperatures down to-1C.

Drove through christmasy Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge which is like Blackpool spread over 10 miles of mini golf, amusements, fast food, etc.

Our parking tonight is in the car park of a shooting range!
