Had a lovely night's sleep by the lake and had a nice coffee in the sunshine to start the day. Drove the 40 miles back towards Las Cruces and turned off to explore the Organ Mountain Park with a short hike up to an old cave in the rocks. Lots of cacti and great views towards West New Mexico.
Drove onwards (via food and fuel stops) to within 30 miles of the Arizona border to a town called Lordsburg. The road was very straight and flat and is often closed by intense dust storms - we only had some mild ones today. Incredibly desolate countryside and just a few small outposts along the route. Some big trains passe by - biggest was 192 carriages and 6 locomotives.
Had some nice local tacos from the shack near our Harvest Host and also a Sonoran Hot Dog - sausage in bacon with avocado,, onions, etc. True Tex-Mex food.
